Fall is here and that means school is back, football is on,
the weather is getting cooler and the leaves are starting to change! It’s
important that we make the best of this time of year before it gets too cold
and the winds of winter kick in. So, let’s take a look at some of the best
places to watch the leaves change:
1. Raccoon Branch Campground
Right in our own backyard, Raccoon Branch is just a 4-5 hour
drive from either Manassas or Ashland and hosts some of the best mountain views
and the peaceful trickle of Dickey Creek. The campground also offers free WiFi
so you can still catch some college football if need be!
2. Cosby Campground
Located in Tennessee right along the Smokey Mountains, Cosby
Campground offers a lush and peaceful environment, filled with trees and plenty
of wildlife. So take in the sights and sounds of this great campground before
it’s too late!
3. Hapgood Pond Campground
Nestled in Vermont, Hapgood Pond is quite the drive from
Virginia, but that’s what RVs are for! Plus you can’t discuss great fall
camping locations without mentioning something from Vermont. This is a great
location to try and get some late season fishing in, as well some canoeing. If
sightseeing is what you’re after, the camp is only 13 miles from the famous
Manchester, Vermont.
4. Loleta Recreation
In Northwestern Pennsylvania, located in the Allegheny
National Forest sits a great family campground that has a swimming beach,
volleyball courts and is surrounded by beautiful cherry and maple trees. With a
lot of hiking trails and the Kinzua Dam, there is plenty to see and do at
Loleta. But visit soon, because camping season ends on October 18th!
